Melville Castle
Melville Castle is an 18th Century Country House Hotel nestled within 50 acres of beautiful woodland estate on the outskirts of Edinburgh, only 20 minutes from the City Centre and Edinburgh Airport.

Guests are invited to enjoy the tranquil comfort and luxury of this historic castle including our 32 comfortable bedrooms, Brasserie restaurant & cellar bar, various local country pursuits and activities such as clay shooting, golfing, horse riding and falconry, and many fascinating local attractions of Midlothian and Edinburgh.

With 7 elegant public rooms, a striking marquee pavilion and ample bedrooms the castle provides a stunning venue to host events ranging from meetings, product launches, private dinners to the most romantic Scottish weddings.

At one time the hunting seat of Mary Queen of Scots, the Castle was commissioned by the first Viscount Melville and designed by the renowned Scottish architect William Playfair in 1791. It remained the seat of the powerful Dundas family until after the Second World War. In recent years Melville Castle has been carefully restored and brought back to life by the Hay family, who continue to be responsible for the castle to this day.
